Vista vs iPhone

Some interesting statistics. I was having a conversation with a colleague about the lack of Vista uptake in our office and at many of our clients. I just did a presentation on Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and one of the questions that we asked was about Vista deployment projects which can be simplified by using a VDI solution. The response out of 12 companies was zero.

In our discussions we decided to go take a peek at the browser OS statistics from our various web sites. My personal site being oriented Apple and Virtualisation doesn’t represent a regular destination for Windows users, but there’s still a fair number.

6f2b2When I look into the Windows distribution, the vast majority are XP.

The final amusing comparison is that currently iPhone and Vista visits run neck and neck, around 1.8% of total visits. Now I haven’t seen the sales figures, but I suspect that Microsoft is reporting a lot more Vista sales than Apple has sold in first generation iPhones.

I’ll update the article once I get the numbers from our corporate web site.
