Little Thing: Device Chargers — The Brooks Review:
“This is one of my favorite Little Things tips: just buy more chargers for your devices. I know that you have probably heard this before, but I really do hope that you do this.”
Must read little article from the Little Things series over at the brooksreview. This aligns nicely with my approach for coping with the fact that I spend an enormous amount of time using various devices that are battery dependent. Now that modern batteries don’t suffer from the memory effect quite as badly as earlier rechargeable batteries, topping up is a viable approach and ensures that I’m ready to go at any moment. So the result is that I have a power plug adaptor at the office with two USB ports and the iPad charger in the pass through plug so that I can be charging the iPad, iPhone and bluetooth headset simultaneously thanks to the 2m iPhone cables and a repurposed Kindle micro USB cable. Then there’s the standard Apple Macbook MagSafe transformer that lives at the office, plus one in the living room and another in the home office. It’s worth noting that the higher rated ones will charge anything from the MacBook lineup. I used to have a MacBook Pro so I bought the 85W models, and now that I’ve moved to the MacBook Air, they still work just fine. In the living room is a Griffin dual dock for our iPhones, plus an additional cable for iPad charging and another beside the bed. So I highly recommend buying chargers for everywhere and then buy long cables so that you can position devices conveniently in each location. I’m looking with slight trepidation at the rumors that Apple will be changing the dock connector which would be a bit of a pain for me since I’ve been able to standardize around these connectors with two iPhones and two iPads in the house.
